Vintage 970 Fine Silver Holloware Seated Santa Claus Figure by BARTOLINI BARTOLOZZI Italy about 80-85 grams. Wonderful vintage Italian manufactured holloware 970 fine silver (higher silver content than Sterling) seated Santa Claus figure, with detailed hand-tooling and subtle gold-wash on selected areas. How they make such a fine item I will never know. Stands about 3.625 inches (9cm). Total weight is approximately 80-85 grams (2.57-2.73 troy ounces) of 97% pure silver (my scale measures in 5 gram increments). Condition is fine, with NO defects at all.

Has not been polished, to preserve the subtle patina and warmth. The mark is as follows: a Star, then 215, then FI, within a lozenge shape.

The purity degree within an oval is 970. This Italian hallmarking for precious metals was in use from 1968 onwards. According to records kept online, the 215 is the Italian official registration mark for FABBRICA ARGENTERIA FIORENTINA di BARTOLINI BARTOLOZZI & C.

Via Ugo Foscolo 27/33, Firenze Florence. They ceased business in 1999, giving a window of about 31 years that this could have been made.
