Vintage Harold Gale Santa Claus in Chimney Mechanical Christmas Store Display

  

Likely 60s or maybe earlier. Mechanical store display Santa Clause rising from a flocked chimney and waving hello.

I've had this Santa for over 25 years and it's time he find a new home. No maker's marks found but clearly Harold Gale based on numerous comparisons. He does not currently stand all the way up. Right now he inflates to about 58" tall and should stand closer to 69" fully inflated. His left hand goes up in a wave type gesture.

Both his mittens are held on partially by safety pins. The chimney base measures 24" X 24" at the top (opening), 18" X 18" at the base, and from the base to the top of the chimney measures 14-1/2. He has one light age discoloration in the white of his right sleeve but other than that his costume is in very good vintage condition.

His beard and mustache are as shown. The beard is a little fuzzy in spots and the mustache hangs a little odd but not unlike other examples.

He does not have an on / off switch. When you plug him in he inflates for a few seconds then deflates.

He rests in the deflated state for a few seconds and then repeats until unplugged. We just put him on a timer. That seems to be a little rarer based on a Google image search. He runs on a vacuum type motor and a metal rod. We had him cleaned and oiled years ago and that helped with his inflated height.

He needs some TLC but he'd be well worth the effort and a great addition to a collection. Deflated he's about 24" front to back, 26" side to side, and about 44 tall. A wild guess would be well under 25#. You would be responsible for all associated charges but I would deliver him free of charge.
