Russian Hand Painted Santa Claus Writing a Storybook #1577

  

This cute and whimsical, brightly colored Russian Santa Claus is wonderfully hand carved and hand painted by the artist. Notice Santa sitting on his rustic log chair with his quill/feather pen as he writes and illustrates this storybook. Santa's cloak, trousers and cap are painted in a burgundy or raspberry color with light blue, gold and white highlighting. SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW.

This Santa is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved so it will last a lifetime. Linden wood was once used to make drafting boards because it is so stable once it is properly dried.

It does not warp, change shape, or crack and this artistic piece will bring enjoyment for a lifetime! Note: These are not molded or mass produced as are some molded resin Santas from China. All our Russian Santas are hand carved from Linden Wood and no two are ever identical! This Grandfather Frost (as he is called in Russia) is made in Sergei Posad, Russia, and is signed by the artist. The Santa measures just over 9.75 inches to the top of his quill by approximately 6 inches from front to back.
