MARVELOUS OLD WORLD HAND CARVED RUSSIAN SANTA CLAUS #2812 with LANTERN

  

This charming rustic or Old World Russian Santa Claus (or Grandfather Frost as he is known in Russia) is hand carved and hand painted creating a wonderful and unique Christmas decoration. Santa is painted in reds and greens with gold and white accents. Santa's cloak is very nicely painted - from the raised dots of paint which give the cloak a textured feel to the decorative edging along the bottom, cuffs and sash around his waist (the sash is accented with gold glitter causing it to sparkle).

The brown, fur-like edges of the cloak, cuffs, and cap are highlighted with a metallic paint which causes those edges to reflect the light and look like they are dusted with snow! Santa is holding a brightly lit lantern in one hand while the other holds his toy pack which is decorated with a pine bough and red Rowan or Winter berries. Santa's face has a sweet expression on it as he stoops while holding his lantern aloft. SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW FOR DETAILS! This Santa is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China.
