Striking Red & Gold Hand Carved & Hand Painted Russian Santa Claus #4116
This enchanting Russian Santa Claus is hand painted by the artist creating this amazing holiday decoration. The Santa is painted in reds and golds with an ornately painted cloak - creating these gold floral or star patterns on his cloak and pack! Santa has a sweet, peaceful look on his face and his features are incredibly realistic! This Santa is holding a walking stick decorated with a mini Christmas tree in one hand and a detailed painted toy sack in the other. Santa's cloak, cap, and pack are painted with a number of raised dots of paint and glitter that give a raised texture to the painting and the decorations have an iridescent look to them.
The collar on his cloak is high up around his neck and looks like it is fur lined - as does the edging on his cap and the cuffs of his cloak. This Santa is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved so it will last a lifetime. Linden wood was once used to make drafting boards because it is so stable once it is properly dried. It does not warp, change shape, or crack and this artistic piece will bring enjoyment for a lifetime! Note: These are not molded or mass produced as are some molded resin Santas from China. All Russian Santas are hand carved from Linden Wood and no two are ever identical!This Grandfather Frost (as he is called in Russia) is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is signed by the artist.
