First I wish to point out that it was impossible to photograph this framed die cut without the reflection of: overhead lighting, me taking the pictures, or the presence of other elements of the kitchen in which the photographs were taken showing up in the glass. Furthermore, the photographs suggest a fog over Santa or imperfections in the green mat, but this is not the case. The colors on this embossed Santa are bright and fresh, the glass is clear. There is a green mat and then a black mat behind him, and both are without spotting or other damage. The image is of a gentle-faced Santa at night (black skyline above his head) with a green bag of toys, presumably approaching a home.

It has stopped snowing and his feet are in snow. There is a band of snow on his beard as well (newer added cotton, judging by the whiteness).

Above his head you see a dark horizon Fig. Santa is outlined in a black mat. From his belt down he has cotton batting with 4 silver stars. Amazingly, the red crape paper on his flowing robe shows no fading and in fact is a very bright red.

There is, however, toning to the batting. Santa is 20 tall measuring to where his shoes might end if they were not buried in show.

It is 20.5 from the top of his head to the bottom of the snow. The frame is basically gold but with the floral elements in red and green suggesting a garland of holly on the outer edge and it is best observed in Fig. The wood frame is 25.5" X 13.75" and is original to the piece.

I have seen a later 1930s? Edition of this Santa, which is 2 shorter and with much less detail. Also, it lacks the stars and the flowing robe of this one making him look stiff. Among dealers with whom I have shown this framed Santa is the opinion that it is unusual to find one this tall, and one dealer with 40 years of experience said he had never seen one this tall. It will be ensconced in stiff poly foam board to keep the glass from breaking, covered with bubble wrap, and carefully wrapped in brown paper.
