Antique Santa Claus Figure Papier Mache Mask Creepy Father Christmas C. 1900

  

Heres an early circa 1900 style handmade Santa Claus mask- you dont usually see a thin Santa with teeth. It is paper maiche over cardboard and hand painted with a toothy smile. The mask itself is about 9 long, not including the beard. The fabric hat is separate and is waxed or starched cloth and conical shaped.

It must have been red originally. My last photo shows a similar mask on page #152 of Robert Brenners book Christmas Revisited, 1986 by Schiffer Publishing Ltd.
