7-Up Santa Claus 1950's Animated Inflating Store Display Harold Gale Figure

  

We have for offer one RARE Santa Claus to festoon your holiday home, Like No Other. After coming across this fellow in our travels and got him home and really started to investigate what we had our hands on. We could not find out any history at all. We did notice a design similarity to Harold Gale's figures of the 1950's, but nothing definitive.

What we DO know is that this Santa is Fabulous! When plugged in he activates a fan that makes him stand straight up (thanks to his balloon body) for 15 seconds, then shuts down for 15 seconds and so on, two times a minute. He came with two very vintage 1950's 7-Up logo stickers on the chimney, red, white and black colors only, no green to be seen. The front one was pretty shredded so we had a couple of replacements fabbed up for the new owner should they want to use them. The chimney is wooden and has a roof-like pitch to it.

We guessed he would be perched on a high pile of 7-Up cases stacked to look like a house. He would certainly look life-sized from that angle, can you picture the faces of the little ones back in the day gazing up and seeing Santa "Appear", Golly! These specialty display figures were Not Available for sale to the public, and made in much fewer numbers as they were going to select grocery stores for promotional purposes. Santa does need a little cleaning to be perfect, but that will be up to the new owner as well. He measures 66" from the bottom of the chimney to the top of his hat, and when inflated, his arms measure 61" across.

His belt buckle is 4 & 1/2 high. I noticed a small 2 crack on the right boot, nearly impossible to see.
